Ghale kharka Sikles Trek, also known as ecological trek, takes you to remote villages of Ghale Kharka and Sikles. This trek is an opportunity to explore the traditional villages of the Gurung ethnic group and indulge in their enticing culture. You will also savor local dishes and enjoy traditional dance performances such as the ‘Ghato’ in Sikles.

Sikles village, a typical Gurung village, is located in the eastern part of the Annapurna conservation area. Traditionally decorated homes of Gurung people is one of the highlights of Sikles villages. Gurung people, residing on the foothills of Annapurna, are blessed with rich customs and culture. Gurung people organize special singing and dancing to entertain visitors. Trekkers can partake in feasts and festivals and garner the best memories to cherish for a lifetime.

Sikles village, perched above the Mardi Khola (1981m), flaunts beautiful landscapes, valleys, and mountain views. The village commands spectacular views of lofty mountains like Annapurna, Dhaulagiri, Machhapuchhre, Lamjung Himal, Nilgiri, Himchuli, and Tukuche, and Dhampus peak. The trek route passes through meadows, pastures, and lush rhododendron forests, home to abundant birds, butterflies, and wild animals.

Ghale Kharka Sikles Trek route leads through a beautiful trail that bestows some of Nepal’s best sceneries. Kharpani, Ghale Kharka, Nyauli Kharka, Sikles, Lamokhet, Kalikasthan, and Pokhara are the significant landmarks of this trek.

Though Ghale Kharka Sikles Trek is not so popular, the trek route is well-marked and managed under the provision of ACAP (Annapurna Conservation Area Project). The untamed landscape of this trek ranges from subtropical terrains to high elevation meadows.

Ghale Kharka Sikles Trek Route

Start your adventure to Ghale kharka and Sikles village with a scenic drive to Pokhara from Kathmandu. The road trip from Kathmandu to Pokhara is an exciting journey. Enjoy the view of hills and rural Nepalese lifestyle.

From Pokhara, you will hit the trail to Kharpani. The trail passes through the national conservation area, and after a short walk towards Ghachowk village and Diprang village, you will reach Kharpani.

On the 3rd day of this trip, you will head to Ghale Kharka, crossing high ridges, rivers, streams, and climbing a steep hill to Chianglung village. The trail further continues to Sardi Khola, Khaibrang, and finally, Ghale Kharka.

Continue the trail through twisted roads, crossing several small streams, and after a few hours, you will arrive in Nyaulikharka. On the 5th day, you will reach Sikles village. The local people will welcome you with warm hospitality. In Sikles, you can enjoy Gurung culture and indulge in the local lifestyle.

Your next destination will be Lamokhet. The trail descends through Mardi Khola Valley and passes through small villages and cultivated fields. Furthermore, you will continue to Kalikasthan. You will trek through the beautiful forests, ridges, hillsides, and terraced landscapes. From Kalikasthan, you can admire the views of Dhaulagiri, Annapurna range, Manaslu, Peak 29, Himal Chuli, and surrounding peaks.

On the 8th day of the trek, you will descend to Pokhara. Walk at your own pace as the trail gradually descends. En route, the sight of the Himalayas greets you. In about 3-4 hours, you will reach Pokhara. And on the last day, you will catch a local bus to Kathmandu from Pokhara.

Ghale Kharka Sikles Trek Difficulty

Ghale kharka Sikles Trek is an easy trek, ideal for all age group. A first-time trekker can embark on a journey to Ghale Kharka and Sikles village.

The highest elevation marked during the trek is 2700m. On average, the trek demands at least 3-4 hours of easy hike. And on a challenging day, you must trek for 5-6 hours.
