Annapurna Base Camp

The trail passes through traditional Gurung villages, terraced fields, waterfalls, and rhododendron and bamboo forests, all the way to a sacred glacial basin surrounded by the jagged summits of Himalayan peaks.
The Gurung villages are home to valiant soldiers of the famous Gurkha regiment. The snow-covered valley circled by Himalayan Mountains at the Annapurna Base Camp is a sacred place for the locals. They believe it is the sanctuary of their gods and no killing of animals is allowed.
Annapurna Base Camp is the perfect destination for those running short on time but still wishing for a complete Himalayan trekking adventure. The shortest route to the base camp takes you from Matque to Annapurna Base Camp via Chhomrong. The trek which lasts for 5 days, finishes in Matkyu. If one wants to visit more villages en route one can take the longer Hile – Ghorepani – Deurali route. With 8 days on the trail, one can enjoy a more immersive experience.
