Tamang Heritage and Langtang Trek Route
Tamang Heritage and Langtang Trek starts and ends in Kathmandu. Take a scenic drive on the meandering roads from Kathmandu to Syabrubesi, the trailhead of your trek. Trek to the Tamang village of Gatlang and also visit an ancient Buddhist monastery of the village.
Walk past charming villages to Tatopani. Continue your trek past forests to the village of Briddim, situated in the lap of Langtang Himal. You will be walking past Tamang and Sherpa villages on your way to Lama Hotel. A forested trail opens up to the stunning view of Lantang Lirung, and hike past Tamang villages to Mundu via Langtang Village.
On your way to Kyangjin Gompa, you will come across yak pastures, glacial rivers, and bridges. Moreover, you can enjoy the breathtaking views of snowcapped mountains from the vantage point of Kyangjin Ri.
You will be spending day nine of your Tamang Heritage and Langtang Trek acclimatizing at Kyangjin Gompa. Hike to the popular viewpoint of Tserko Ri (5,000 meters) on the acclimatization day.
Marvel at the awe-inspiring panoramic views of mountains including Langtang Lirung, Naya Kanga, and Yala Peak and return back to Kyangjin Gompa. Walk past Tamang villages to Lama Hotel and trek through a forest to Syabrubesi.
On the following day, you will be driving back to Kathmandu.
Tamang Heritage and Langtang Trek Difficulty
Tamang Heritage and Langtang Trek is a moderate to difficult trek. You will attain a maximum elevation of 5,000 meters at Tserko Ri.
You will be trekking for a maximum of 7 hours and a minimum of 4 hours. On average you will be walking for around 6 hours. This Trek is a physically demanding high altitude trek.
It is suitable for experienced and novice trekkers. It also requires you to be reasonably fit. Past hiking experience will boost your confidence level but isn’t a requirement.
