Short trek to Everest Base Camp begins with a thrilling flight to Lukla from Kathmandu. The Tenzing-Hillary Airport in Lukla, flanked by tall mountains and precipitous cliffs is regarded as one of the world’s most extreme airports.

From Lukla you begin your trek and walk to the scenic Sherpa settlement of Phakding by crossing the thundering Dudh Koshi or ‘Milk’ River. Cross high suspension bridges and walk through a forested trail filled with tall pine trees.

Everest Base Camp Short Trek Difficulty

Graded moderate to difficult, this trek is for those used to high altitude trekking.

As no acclimatization days have been included, this trip is recommended for those who have currently been trekking in the Himalayas or elsewhere and their bodies are well adjusted to the thin mountain air. No technical climbing is involved.

The highest elevation reached is 5,550 metres at Kala Patthar. Maximum you will have to put in 8 hours of walk and minimum 3 hours. On average you will be spending around 6 hours on the trail each day.
