Machhapuchhre Model Trek is an alternative trekking route in Nepal’s Annapurna region, specially designed for keen trekkers who seek less-trodden trail in an unspoiled region. The trail of Machhapuchhre Model is completely off-the-beaten, weaving through lush rhododendron forests, cascading waterfalls, alpine landscape, and beautiful villages of ethnic groups like Brahim, Newar, Gurung, Magar, and Tamang.

This trek was recently introduced by the Trekking Agencies Association of Nepal (TAAN) in 2010. The Swiss Ambassador to Nepal Thomas Gass first explored the route through seven northern village development committees of Kaski district in December 2009.

This trek offers an opportunity to explore the hidden gems of the Annapurna region through the pristine trail. Trekkers get to explore the Annapurna conservation area and the hidden cultures of the rural valley. The pristine trail of Machhapuchhre Model commands breathtaking views of Machhapuchhre (Fishtail) and snow capped mountains like Mardi Himal, Hiunchuli, and Annapurna range.

As you hit the trail above 3000m, you will realize that the sublime mountain vistas accompany you throughout the trail under the clear sky. The sound of chirping birds, diverse landscapes, and the sight of the Himalayas will be a delightful experience.

Mardi Pul, Ribhan, Chichimle Kharka, Khumai Danda, Korchon, Takru, Saitighatta, and Pokhara are the major stopping points of this trek. Your guide will manage food and accommodation throughout the trek. Every day, all you need to do is wake up, walk, and enjoy the trek.

Annapurna Machhapuchhre Model Trek Route

You will start the trek with a scenic ride to Pokhara via Prithvi Highway. After 5-6 hours of ride, you will arrive in Pokhara, the popular tourist hub in the Annapurna region. Pokhara is the gateway to all the treks in the Annapurna region of Nepal.

On the 2nd day, you will drive to Mardi Pul and trek to Ribhan. The trail gradually ascends decked with hamlets and greenery. After trekking for 5-6 hours, you will reach Ribhan and stay overnight. In your leisure, you can prepare for the next day.

Following the route to Chichimle Kharka, you will traverse through the rhododendron forest and walk past small villages. The trek today is easy and rewarding. Your adventure continues to Khumai Danda. En route, you will admire stunning views of lofty mountains like Annapurna, Machhapuchhre Dhaulagiri, and Lamjung Himal.

After enjoying light breakfast early in the morning, you will continue the trail to Khumai Danda. Today’s trek bestows spectacular views of the Himalayas. The diverse landscape and beautiful village is an impressive sight every trekker passing from Chichimle Kharka to Khumai Danda.

On the 5th day of the trek, you’ll head to Korchon. Today’s highlight is the spectacular views of Mardi Himal, Machhapuchhre, and Annapurna range. The rugged trails are less trodden, but our experienced guide knows them all.

The next day, you will explore the beauty of Korchon by embarking on a rewarding side-trip to the nearby hills and area. This day will help you adjust your body to the altitude. Similarly, you will prepare for the forthcoming trek to Takru.

The trail gradually descends to Takru and Saitighatta. Rest assured that the trek will be enjoyable. And you will catch a local vehicle to Pokhara. Finally, on the last day, you will be back in Kathmandu.

Annapurna Machhapuchhre Model Trek Difficulty

Machhapuchhre Model Trek is rated an easy to moderate trek, suitable for novice trekkers and enthusiast trekkers who love to explore the less-crowded trail. The highest elevation of this trek is 3650m.

The trek demands 5-6 hours of average trekking hour per day. And on a challenging day, you must trek for 7-8 hours.
