Annapurna Circuit and Base Camp Trek Route

Your Annapurna Circuit and Base Camp Trek starts and ends in Kathmandu. Take a scenic drive from Kathmandu to the village of Chame.

Walk on the trail lined with Mani walls, chortens, and prayer wheels, to the ancient village of Upper Pisang. The people of Tibetan lineage dominate Upper Pisang and their lifestyle is similar to Tibetans as well.

Savor the stunning view of Annapurna Massif and other peaks and walk past charming village of Nyawal on your way to Manang. You will be spending a day acclimatizing in Manang village which is situated on the lap of Himalayas.

Hike to the famous Ice Lake situated beneath soaring Chulu East and soak in the soul-stirring panoramic view. Further, walk to the settlement of Yak Kharka and trek to Thorong Phedi, a glacial valley encircled by snowcapped mountains.

Wake up early to cross the challenging Thorong La Pass. Climb on a steep trail up to the apex of the pass and marvel at the gorgeous Himalayan views.

Walk past the sacred temple of Muktinath which holds religious significance for both Hindus and Buddhists.

Pass picturesque villages of Kagbeni and Jomsom on your way to Marpha. The beautiful village of Marpha features white-colored houses and narrow alleys.

Enjoy a scenic walk to Kalapani and take a dip in the natural hot spring at the village of Tatopani.

Hike past Thakali villages, terraced farmlands and lush green forest to Ghorepani. Wake up early and hike to Poon Hill to catch a magical Himalayan sunrise. Enjoy the stunning view of Annapurna Massif, Dhaulagiri, and neighboring mountains.

Hike past the charming villages of Tadapani and Chhomrong. Continue your trek to the Himalaya Hotel overlooking the stunning views of a glacial river flowing down the valley.

On the next day, you will be trekking to Annapurna Base Camp via Machhapuchhre Base Camp. Watch the towering peaks of Annapurna Massif in a valley circled by glaciers from the Annapurna Base Camp. Witness a stunning sunrise over the towering Himalayas and trek to Bamboo.

Walk past beautiful villages and farms to Matque and drive back to Pokhara. On the following day, you will be driving back to Kathmandu.

Annapurna Circuit and Base Camp Trek Difficulty

Annapurna Circuit and Base Camp Trek of 18 days is moderate to difficult trek. You will attain a maximum height of 5,416 meters at Thorong La Pass.

You need to be reasonably fit and should be able to hike for several hours a day to do this trek. Further, you will be trekking for a maximum of 8 hours and a minimum of 3 hours. On average you will be hiking for around 7 hours per day. However, there isn’t any technical climbing involved in this trek.
