This trek offers you twice the thrill with a chance to trek two base camps (Annapurna and Mardi Himal Base Camp) of the Annapurna Region in a single package. Starting from Pokhara to Kimche, you will reach Annapurna Base Camp via Machhapuchare Base Camp. Trailing through lush forest and water springs, you will reach Mardi Himal Base Camp for breathtaking views of the Himalayas and then return to Kathmandu.

13. Annapurna Base Camp and Circuit Trek – 18 Days

This is the longest trek of 18 days when we connect Annapurna Base Camp and Annapurna Circuit Trek to take you the highest point at Thorang La Pass (5,416m).

Start the journey from Kathmandu to Chame through a pine and cypress forest to Bhratang. Ascend uphill to Dhukur Pokhari to Upper Pisang village and walk uphill to view Mt. Annapurna.

The walk continues to the Manang to the Ngawal village and downhill to Mungji to meet the lower route to Manang. Ascend uphill to the nearest tea shop and walk to Thorung Phedi.

Later, climb high to High Camp where we get to see a 360-degree view of the mountains and to Thorung La (5,416 m) to see the amazing Kali Gandaki valley and surrounding mountain peaks.

Climb steeply downhill to Muktinath (3,800 m) to experience Dhaulagiri and Kaligandaki Valley. The walk continues till Poon Hill via Ghorepani and then to Annapurna Base Camp.

After soaking up the beauty and feeling proud, move back to Pokhara and enjoy the remaining days.

Best Time to Visit Annapurna Base Camp

The best time to trek the Annapurna Base Camp is during the spring season of March to May or the autumn season of September to November. But you can trek to the base camp at any month of the year with full information and planning.

From June to August (monsoon), the weather gets cloudier and windier with the chances of frequent afternoon showers. So, trekkers must pack some raincoats.

If you want to avoid crowds, then winter i.e. December to February is suitable. If well prepared, winter holds no barrier and lets you experience the trail to the fullest.

Annapurna Base Camp Trek Difficulties

1. Physical Strength: This is easy to moderate trek and does not demand advanced physical fitness levels. Thus, anyone who wishes can enjoy and take pleasure in nature walking. On average, you should daily walk around 5 hours.

2. Altitude sickness: Annapurna Base Camp lies at the altitude of 4,130m, so people can experience altitude sickness in the thinner level of oxygen and low pressure. It is recommended to take it slow with the use of preventive medication and acclimatize the body properly.

3. Coughing: As you ascend higher, you will start coughing and experience bronchial irritation due to cold dry air. Make sure you dress warmly and protect your head and neck from the cold. Do not forget to pack some cough drops to help you on the way.

4) Avalanches: During the winter, December- February, heavy snowfalls can be seen in the mountains. From March, the snow melts and thus tumbles down as avalanches. There are unfortunate times when the snow size gets bigger and causes severe harms to the trekker.
